What Resources Do I Have As A Student at The University of Alabama?

At the University of Alabama, there are many opportunities and resources to help students become the best version of themselves and to be successful college students. Navigating campus life and life in general can be exceedingly difficult and having the resources and services It is important that as a Bama student you know what resources the Capstone has to offer to make your time here at UA the best experience. 

Academic Resources 

MyBama is the university's website where students can access everything UA. Students can see their grades, have access to Blackboard Learn, change their major and minor, register for classes, and access other resources like the event and academic calendar. Blackboard Learn is an academic learning system that Professors use to post the class materials and announcements. Students will do most of their assignments and projects on. Students can see what courses they are taking and access their class materials. The campus map is another great resource for students to figure out where what building their classes and to get more insight on what campus has to offer. 

Financial and Transportation 

As a UA student, you are required to have a student ID called the ACT card. At the beginning of each semester students receive $250 in dining dollars. Students can also put money on the card for Bama cash. It is a wonderful way to purchase food and school materials on and off campus. Another great service that UA provides is the transportation services. Crimson Ride provides bus services on and off campus for students to get to classes. Most of the apartments near UA have a bus that takes students from their Tuscaloosa apartment to campus. Some bus routes take students to popular shopping locations near UA like the mall and Mid-Town Village. For more information on bus routes, check out the website. For students who drive to campus from UA off-campus housing, there are designated areas for students to park. Students use the app Passio Go to pay for parking. It provides a map showing what areas students can park. This is a great resource for Bama students who do not have parking decals.

Help and Assistance 

The University of Alabama cares about the health, safety, and well-being of all students. Here are some resources for students whenever they need help or assistance: The Student Health Center and Pharmacy offers clinical services (allergy, women's health, STI-testing nutrition, dermatology) and on-site pharmacy for students. You can make an appointment online through MyBama or call. Next to East Edge apartments is the South Lawn Building where the Women and Gender Resource Center and the Counseling Center are located. WGRC provides free and confidential counselling and advocacy services to anyone that is a victim of abuse and violence. They promote social justice and address gender disparity in all areas of life. The Counseling Center provides counseling, outreach, and psychological services for undergraduate and graduate students. Whether you need short term or long-term assistance, WGRC and the Counseling Center have trained professionals and counselors to guide students.
